Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor is responsible for leading AI at BlueCrest Capital Management and has well over a decade of experience in Machine Learning and AI within the financial sector. His background begins in Astrophysics, specialising in Computational Cosmology at the University of Manchester, where he conducted statistical analysis on simulations of the large-scale structure of the universe.

Following time spent working for KPMG, Richard joined Barclays Bank as a Data Scientist where he developed machine learning models to monitor trading activity using novel techniques. This preceded 5 years as a Senior Data Scientist at Fable Data, where he was the first technical hire. He built the company’s initial data pipelines, machine learning models, and initial product, selling to some of the largest names in the investment industry and enabling significant business growth. Here he led and expanded the Product and Compliance functions within the Data Science division, fine-tuning Large Language Models for near real-time data classification and automating the capture and processing of additional datasets using AI.

Before joining BlueCrest Capital Management, Richard was responsible for the leading the AI agenda across Ninety One Asset Management, focussing on applied AI within the investment process.
